Charlton Kings In Bloom

“Our England is a garden,
And such gardens are not made,
By singing "Oh, how beautiful"
And sitting in the shade!!”

Rudyard Kipling
“The Glory of the Garden.”
Charlton Kings In Bloom (CKIB) is run by a group of unpaid volunteers, supported by a number of keen gardeners, based in the village of Charlton Kings on the outskirts of Cheltenham in the Cotswolds.

Every year we run a competition to find the best gardens throughout the village including schools, pubs and businesses in the local area.

We also hold a number of fund raising events each year which are open to everyone including a Gardening Talk from a guest lecturer, a Plant Fair and a Garden Trip.

Any funds we raise are spent on planting projects throughout the village. As well as planting spring bulbs in various locations we also provide black planters at various points around the village and look after seasonal planting of the War Memorial.

Our aim is simply to promote gardening as a community activity and, in doing so, we hope to make Charlton Kings an even lovelier place in which to work & live.

The Committee, who are all keen gardeners themselves, comprises:-
Sue Wilkinson, Liz Ward, John Coates, Bob Lawson, Maxine Burdett, Maureen Gardner, Sue Albone, Barbara Pugh and Ila Aghera.

The group is affiliated to the RHS and is an active supporter of the RHS Community Gardening Scheme, details of which can be found by clicking this link

We are also have links with the Cheltenham Horticultural Society and Charlton Kings Parish Council.
